By Marshall Hall
What’s Happening: A heavyweight of the GC’s fast-growing marine industry, the Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard (GCCM) is celebrating 25 years as Australia’s most awarded and internationally recognised marine facility.
Why It Matters: Founded by Patrick Gay AM, the Coomera-based shipyard began as his vision and has grown into the country’s most awarded and experienced facility of its type.
Once just farmland, GCCM is now an economic anchor, servicing vessels from the USA, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific while creating jobs and fostering world-class craftsmanship.
By the Numbers
• 90+ businesses operate within GCCM.
• 700+ marine contractors work on-site.
• It’s earned global recognition multiple times for its excellence.
Smooth Sailing Ahead: Still privately owned and operated by the Gay family, with Patrick’s son Trenton now at the helm, his leadership allows GCCM to keep innovating, attracting top talent, and enhancing facilities.
What The People Say
“We’ve brought together some of the smartest minds and most talented craftsmen in the Australian marine industry.” – Patrick Gay AM
“We hear it often when we are travelling overseas, that GCCM is amongst the best in the world. When you get endorsements from industry and customers from around the globe, it makes you feel good, and you know you are steering the ship in the right direction.” – Trenton Gay
