1. One Big Thing: Community clubs the key to Games volunteers
What’s Happening: Twelve Redland-based community clubs have joined a state-wide initiative to help reverse Queensland’s volunteer decline and support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Why It Matters: With volunteer numbers dropping across Queensland, the decentralised nature of the 2032 Games means local support from across the state—including Redlands—is critical to its success.
By the Numbers
12 Redland clubs involved in the pledge
Clubs Queensland represents 1290 clubs and 4.1 million memberships
These clubs contribute over $549 million to communities annually
Olympics, But Make It Local: With the 2032 Games spanning multiple regions, this decentralised model highlights the need for hyper-local volunteer coordination—and Redland’s community clubs are ready.

2. Mould found at Redland Performing Arts Centre
Redland City Council has confirmed that mould-contaminated chairs were found in the public concert hall of the Redland Performing Arts Centre, following earlier reports that mould was limited to staff-only areas.
The contamination, linked to water damage from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, has prompted the removal of the affected seating and a full remediation effort.
Although the incident is not classified as a notifiable workplace safety case, council has paused events for 20 days and relocated staff as a precaution. Specialist contractors are now assessing the spread and type of mould while air filters remain in place across the venue.
3. Redlands Juniors bound for Nationals
What’s Happening: Redlands athletes Leo Ramsay and Saxon Cranefield will represent Queensland at the 2025 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships, 26–27 April in Adelaide.
Why It Matters: This national event showcases top U13–U15 athletes, blending sport with life skills like teamwork and resilience.
