Citizen scientists across Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory can help by reporting sightings or ‘non-sightings.’

2. William Taylor Sports field LED Upgrade
The William Taylor Memorial Sports Field in Thorneside is getting a major lighting upgrade.
New LED lights are being installed on the main soccer field as part of the ongoing improvements, set to be completed by December 2024, weather permitting.
Why It’s Important
The new LED lights will provide brighter, clearer lighting for night games and training sessions.
They will also save on electricity costs and reduce maintenance due to their longer lifespan compared to older halogen lights.

3. Labor pledges $1.6B for Redland Hospital expansion

Labor has pledged $1.6 billion for Stage 2 of the Redland Hospital expansion if re-elected, adding 181 beds, a larger emergency department, and two more operating theatres, increasing the hospital’s capacity to 376 beds.

With the Redlands population expected to grow by 185,000 in the next decade, this expansion will ensure healthcare services keep pace and create over 3000 construction jobs.
