GREAZEFEST, Australia’s longest-running hot rod & rockabilly festival, celebrates 24 years of retro fun this weekend, August 2-4, at the Redlands Showgrounds.

This year’s event is bigger than ever, featuring hot rods, classic cars, and an exciting music program headlined by C.W. Stoneking & His Primitive Horn Orchestra and Marti Brom (USA). Expect vintage fashion, market stalls, art displays, and a record-setting Pinup Party! With 22 live bands and DJs, there’s a dance floor ready for rock and rolling, jiving, and strolling.

2. St Stradbroke wine bar raises a glass to wildlife rescue

What's Happening
Local wine bar St Stradbroke and Wildlife Rescue Minjerribah celebrated community spirit and wildlife conservation with an unforgettable Christmas in July fundraising event on Saturday evening.
Why It Matters
The event brought together locals, supporters, and organisations to raise funds for Wildlife Rescue Minjerribah. With more than $12,500 raised so far, the night was a resounding success.

Festive cheer, delicious food, and a lively auction
Generous donations from Oatley Fine Wines, Whalewatch Ocean Beach Resort, Discover Stradbroke, Sealink SEQ, Straddie Brewing Co, and Rufus King Seafood
Competitive bidding atmosphere raised significant funds

3. $250,000 available for Redlands local community events – funding up to $30,000 per event
What’s Happening
Applications are now open for Redland City Council’s 2024-2025 Sponsorship Program. This program supports events and initiatives that attract visitors and benefit the community.
Zoom In
The sponsorship program, led by Mayor Jos Mitchell, offers two rounds of funding each year. It supports sporting, cultural, and music events, festivals, expos, and conferences. It also funds Quandamooka cultural awareness activities, such as dances and smoking ceremonies.
By the Numbers
Funding categories:
Up to $15,000: Minor funding category
$15,001 to $30,000: Major funding category
Up to $1,500: Quandamooka Cultural Awareness funding
Last financial year, Council awarded almost $242,000 in sponsorship and $12,600 in Quandamooka Cultural Awareness funding for 20 events. Recipients included:
