2. $80M in Recovery Grants released
What’s Happening: The Australian and Queensland Governments have activated more than $80 million in disaster recovery grants.
This substantial funding supports small businesses, primary producers, not-for-profits, and rural landholders affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, with special attention to communities including Redland.
Why It Matters: These grants are crucial for communities like Redland, significantly impacted by Cyclone Alfred, enabling swift recovery efforts.
Quick access to these funds helps businesses and residents promptly resume operations and normal life, minimising economic and social disruption.
Local Impact: Activated across 16 council areas, the grants notably benefit Redland, alongside Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, Lockyer Valley, Noosa, and Southern Downs.
For Redland communities, the grants provide urgently needed relief, helping local businesses and landholders quickly address recovery challenges.
What To Look for Next: Eligible businesses, landholders, and organisations in Redland and other affected areas should apply promptly via the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) or by calling 1800 623 946.

Redlands Coast locals are invited to explore sustainable living at the Eco Market on Saturday 5 April 2025, from 8am to 12pm at Redland City Council’s IndigiScapes Centre, 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba.
The market will feature eco-friendly stalls, kids’ activities, family yoga, live music, and community engagement opportunities.

Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie said, “You can drop into the nursery for all your native plant needs and advice.” The Eco Market also gives the community a chance to connect with the Council’s Environment Education team and celebrate 25 years of habitat restoration, conservation and education at IndigiScapes.
