What’s Happening
Wynnum Fringe has launched a campaign to restore the Augathella Spiegeltent, aiming to raise $500,000 to relocate and revive this historic venue from Augathella to Brisbane’s eastern suburb.
Why It Matters
The Augathella Spiegeltent, commissioned in 2008 for Queensland’s 150th anniversary, blends Belgian design with an Australian shearing shed aesthetic.

2. NAIDOC Week Kicks Off on Redlands Coast

What’s Happening
Redlands Coast will launch into festivities for NAIDOC Week this weekend, starting with a cultural celebration on Sunday, July 7th, at Raby Bay Harbour Park in Cleveland from 9 am to 2 pm.
Why It Matters
NAIDOC Week this year will run from July 7th to 14th and aims to celebrate First Nations culture and history.
The Quandamooka People, Traditional Custodians of Redlands Coast, have lived on North Stradbroke Island and its surrounding areas for around 21,000 years.
Event Highlights
The celebrations will include a traditional smoking ceremony, cultural demonstrations, weaving workshops, and activities for children.
Performers include Adam James, Georgia Corowa, Yulu-Burri-Ba dancers, and Suga Cane Mamas.

3. Funding approval for more community batteries
What’s Happening
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has approved funding for 370 community batteries under the Community Batteries for Household Solar Program, increasing from the initial 342 due to strong interest.
Why It Matters
This $143 million investment will help to build infrastructure that will help store excess solar energy for household use during peak times.
