1. One big thing: Redland City Minute’s Birkdale Whitewater submission to the Brisbane 2032 Committee
What’s Happening
Over the last few months, following the successes of our Aussies at the Paris Olympics, the Redland City Minute put forward some enhancements that could be made to the proposed Birkdale Whitewater Precinct.
Why It Matters
Following positive feedback to the concept, we recently ran a poll in our newsletter (which you can see here) where the outcome was convincing enough that we thought we better make a submission to the Brisbane 2032 Review Committee based on the result.
So, we did what we said we’d do, and here it is for you to read at the link below.
Local Impact
At the very least, we have put the concept forward, which hopefully helps show the community’s willingness to expand this precinct to appeal to a few additional watersport interest groups for what will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Redlands.

2. Redland Council supports 14 local projects
What’s Happening

These projects focus on facility readiness, environmental restoration, and empowering women with trade skills, respectively.

3. Redlands Tigers set for $1.1M transformation
What’s Happening
The iconic EGW Wood Sports Fields at Wellington Point, home to the Redlands Tigers, are set to receive a $1.1 million funding boost, pledged by Henry Pike MP if the Dutton Coalition Government is elected early next year.
The funding will upgrade training and playing facilities, including the installation of new turf practice nets, lighting upgrades, and a new women’s changeroom and bathroom block.
By The Numbers
$1.1 million in pledged funding for the Tigers’ facilities.
2032 Olympics inclusion of cricket provides a pathway for the venue to host T20 games.
Enhancements include new turf practice nets, a women’s changeroom, and improved infrastructure.
What To Look For Next
The outcome of the next federal election will determine if this funding becomes a reality.
